Chelsea Schwartz
Chief Editor, Writer, Photographer
(MySpace)
Chelsea Schwartz is a music lover of all sorts. She can constantly be found wandering about this beautiful country we call the USA in search of good music and hopes to make that an international search soon. Knowing the road was her natural calling, Chelsea studied audio engineering and music management in college. When not on the road with various live acts, Chelsea calls West Hollywood home where most of her time is spent snacking, drinking and/or catching live music at Canter's (and the world famous Kibitz Room). You just gotta try their matzo ball soup!
Izzy Cihak
Writer, Editor
High Voltage Magazine's most condescending and pretentious writer hails from Charm City, Maryland, but relocated to Philadelphia in 2003 to go to art school, become a journalist, and, in terribly un-hip fashion, attend grad. school. Izzy can regularly be seen in indie venues like the North Star and Johnny Brenda's, Good Dog Bar (his favorite place on the planet), and on the pages of Burning Angel (as a music reviewer) and Lyke Magazine (of which he is the co-creator). Musical highlights of Izzy's life include dancing with Luscious Jackson at the Naval Academy, a smooch from Kim Deal, singing on NPR with Belle and Sebastian, a duet with Kim Gordon, and 4 on-stage appearances with Iggy Pop. Aside from the standards, his tastes tend toward Brit Pop, Glam Rock, Riot Grrrl, 100 Club Punk, Chicago Industrial, Sleaze Rock, Power Pop, and Post Punk. While Izzy can seem more than a bit confused and contradictory, he claims that, at the end of the day, the only things that really matter to him are Morrissey, PBR, and girls who look like Snow White.
Mystie Chamberlin
Occasional Writer & Photographer
(MySpace)
Mystie Chamberlin, also known solely by the first-name monikers Mystie, Misty, Misite and Misti, was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, but quickly moved to a provincial town located in Southern Illinois until she was introduced to the intoxicating music industry at the impressionable (because she was somewhat naive) age of fifteen. After a brief gothic phase, a running-away-on-tour phase, and high school, Mystie ventured into the semi-political, quasi-emotional ever re-definable punk realm. She quietly made her way from her humble origins at community college, where she nurtured a passion for writing, to state college, where she developed a passion for visual arts. Finally she made it to Chicago where she drank and schmoozed for six years in an inspired, yet bewildered lethargy. While in Chicago she merged her true love of music with her other interests and found contentment. Recently she has relocated to New York where she spends her days trying to make sense of a pathetic existence while smoking and wandering around Brooklyn. At night she sits in New York City's East Village bars, smoking and drinking, and enjoying her pathetic existence. While she has outgrown many of her phases (such as high school), she still tends to run away when her discontent gets overwhelming... or... you know... whenever.
Naimah Holmes
Writer, Avid Promoter
Naimah was born in Philadephia, raised in Norristown and moved to NJ at the age of 18. She now resides in a sleepy suburban town, the local scene isn't terrific but it'll do. When she isn't at work, or studying audio recording, you'll find her at a local show. Her hobbies include dancing like no one's watching, making any sourpuss laugh, writing, merch design, drawing, and skeeball. Chances are you think you've seen her somewhere. Not true!! It was her doppleganger, true story. "I seriously doubt you saw me in 'Da club' Do they even have bands there?! Don't get it twisted!" If ever our paths should cross though, "Feel free to buy me a drink. I'll owe you a dance." Current obsessions include: live shows, dance dancing, limewire, promoting new music, pop culture, Access Hollywood, and Andy Greenwald.
