We recently introduced a new online team, with whom we thank for the content they provide. We do not accept applications for writers. Generally we pick people who we feel can bring something extra to High Voltage and who we feel are as passionate about music as we are. Don't let that deter you from offering your services though. Just drop us a line.

Alison KrickAlison Krick
Photographer

Alison was born and raised in the great state of Wisconsin and managed to never own a cheese head hat. She grew up in Milwaukee and currently lives in Keonsha (or Ka-no-where as it is called). She currently teaches 7th-12th grade PE and health and coaches a variety of sports; it's far from the the rock star life, but it pays the bills. After being in and out of bands and having a camera in hand wherever she goes, a job in concert/live photography only made sense. She also loves going to shows of any sort, and showing off her parallel parking skills. Guilty pleasures include: pugs, making the band on MTV and making a plan to meet Janet Jackson one day.

JillJill Wierenga
Writer

With one foot following the other and her eyes to the ground, Jill Wierenga has finally managed to meander in to adulthood. After countless false steps and stumbles, including brief and ill-advised stints in San Francisco and New York, Jill has found herself settled into that den of inequity they call Hollywood. When not exploring the dingy bars and alleys of this fair town, she enjoys flea markets, cigarettes, and Bukowski. If you happen to see her at the bus stop, feel free to offer a ride. She's probably late to work.

Kim JohnsonKim Johnson
Writer, Photographer

The camera's name would be Josephine. That loser holding the camera would be me. I've scoured the many streets of the SoCal area bumming cigarettes off strangers and talking to myself long enough to realize my only purpose in life is to make others perceive "the normal" differently and to entertain you with my mass amount of energy. I'm overly passionate about music, photography and writing which would probably be the reason I have no normal friends. I'm obsessed with going to shows which would explain why I usually wake up limping to school on Monday mornings. I spend half of my conversations with people quoting songs from various artists and make it a point to always compliment a band by telling them they caused my greatest orgasm. I commonly find myself in very philosophical moods which lead me to say very random things including 10 minute made up stories about my great grand-father being in World War II and how I was conceived in prison leaving me a prisoner of "The Man" since birth. I'll attempt to keep this concise by leaving you with a few words by PlayRadioPlay, "I want to be an astronaut and get, higher."

Liz JimenezLiz Jimenez
Writer

Lizbeth is originally from Mexico, but was raised in Las Vegas, NV. She is currently attending the University of Nevada-Las Vegas majoring in Business Management and has a minor in Criminal Justice. She has always had a passion for music, she knows how to play the violin and is currently learning piano. She enjoys going to concerts throughout the Las Vegas valley and meeting new people. Growing up in Las Vegas has given Liz the opportunity to see local bands making it to stardom, and yes she does like The Killers. On the weekends you can find Liz at any of the local venues/bars trying to get bands to perform for Rock for the Cure (a charity event that she coordinated in 2006).

Mai HuynhMai Huynh
Writer, Photographer

Mai Huynh (pronounced MY WIN) has lived an eclectic life starting when she was born in the great nation of Belgium, raised all over including the Philippines and somehow ended up living in Texas... relocated to the open-minded liberal state that is Massachusetts and currently loving college life at Bentley College. She is studying Media and Cultural studies with a minor in business management. She hopes to go on tour again. Her passion is booking bands and traveling, preferably traveling because of bands. She has accepted that she will always be broke because of these travels but like Chelsea, music is life and life is music. Motto: Live it up!

Sean Williamson
Writer

Sean was born in the sweltering summer of 1985. In the twenty-two years following he made the road his only friend while touring as the singer for a Midwest metal outfit. At some point he thought it would be a good idea to get some sort of education. He lasted for a year at Wisconsin’s largest state school before packing all of his worldly possessions in a duffel bag and moving to the city of angels. He spends most of his time watching movies and listening to all sorts of sweet discs, leaving little time for real human interaction. Without a car he walks barefoot through the inferno of humanity. Currently he is working to shed his cynical nature and give the world the benefit of the doubt.
